Breathwork and Breath Awareness

Breathing is an integral part of our health and wellbeing. We can all benefit by bringing more awareness to the breath and working with the breath. This can be achieved using the principles and exercises provided through the Oxygen Advantage program along with other breathing programs.

Oxygen Advantage presents the idea that we can improve the quality of our lives by optimizing our natural breathing habits through a series of simple and easy-to-implement exercises. The focus of the exercises is primarily on light, slow, and deep breathing, which assists the body by allowing us to tap into and harness our innate internal intelligence. The breathing techniques used in the Oxygen Advantage program help us to optimize our physiological functions by targeting the biochemistry and biomechanics of the body. The breathing exercises can be integrated into your daily routine without the need for a substantial time commitment. Depending on your health goals, this could be as little as 15-20 minutes per day.

Different approaches to breathwork are highly personalized. We are unique individuals. Breathing techniques that are helpful for one may not produce the same results for another. Therefore, it is advisable that you work with a trained individual, who can recommend the most targeted regiment of breathing exercises for your fitness level and goals. I offer individual sessions, or you may decide that a 3-week starter bundle is appropriate for you.


Getting Started

If you are interested in getting started with breathwork and exploring the various options available to you, then we can begin with an initial free consultation. Thereafter, we can arrange to meet on a per session schedule or you may wish to consider the three-week breath bundle. I also offer group coaching to various organizations, such as those consisting of athletes, business leaders, medical professionals, or anyone else interested in improving their health, wellbeing, focus, and performance.  Each of these options is described in more detail below. All interactions can be conducted either in person or online as a video conference.

Initial Consultation

During this 15 – 20 minute visit, we will review your personal health and quality of life goals and how breathwork may be able to assist you in achieving these goals. To help you better understand what the Oxygen Advantage program and other breathwork methods can offer, I will share with you some of the fundamental physiological principles upon which these have been developed. We can then discuss possible paths forward.

Individual Sessions

Each meeting will last 60-75 minutes. During that time, we can conduct a “check-in” to assess which breathing exercises are most appropriate for you. A session can go in a variety of directions depending on your goals and our progress together, but in general, may consist of the following elements:

  • Provide an overview of the fundamental principles of the Oxygen Advantage program or breathing exercises as appropriate and desired.
  • Review progress and goals and determine a suitable regime of breathing exercises customized for you. Breathwork is personal and should be catered to the individual.
  • Introduce and demonstrate the various breathing exercises to be practiced.

Three-Week Breathing Bundle

This package gives you a jump start into breathwork based on the Oxygen Advantage program and other breathwork methods. The goal during the three weeks is to provide you with the tools you need to “level up your breathing game” and monitor your progress. It also provides an opportunity to assess and revise a breath exercise regime suited to your needs. It can be followed by additional sessions. The three-week program typically runs as follows:

  • First Meeting (60-90 min): Provide metrics that you use to determine and track your level of functional breathing. Review some of the principles of the Oxygen Advantage program and other breathing techniques. Develop a series of easy-to-do breathing exercises, which you can integrate into your daily routine.
  • Second Meeting (60-90 min): Scheduled approximately one week into the program. Review and discuss your progress and consider if adaptations to the breathing exercises may be needed. Opportunity for questions and clarifications.
  • Third Meeting (60-90 min): Scheduled approximately two weeks into the program. Again, provide an opportunity to assess your overall progress and consider if adaptations to the breathing exercises may be needed. Address questions.
  • Fourth Meeting (30-60 min): Scheduled approximately three into the program. Review the principles of breathwork based on your experiences during the past three weeks. Consider your longer-term health and wellness goals and which corresponding breathwork exercises may be appropriate for you as you continue along your path to better breathing and health.

Group Coaching

The strength of an organization lies in its ability to function and grow together as a team. We are social beings and benefit from having common ties. Through breathwork we can develop ourselves individually and as part of a community. The focus and structure of the group coaching sessions are tailored to the needs of the collective. This can be supplemented with one-on-one training. Some of the benefits available by working with groups may include:

  • Being able to connect with others on a similar journey.
  • Having the chance to share success stories and challenges with others as you experience more connection with their body and breath.
  • Greater opportunities to expand upon and enhance your own learning experience by exchanging ideas with others regarding different breathwork techniques.

  • Breathing Exercises Documentation – Don’t worry about forgetting how to do a particular exercise or the basic Oxygen Advantage philosophy. I will provide documentation on the breathwork concepts and exercises assigned to you.
  • Updates on latest findings – I am continually searching for new (and old) information on breathing techniques and physiology. I will make it a point to share information with you that I feel may be relevant for your particular health conditions and concerns.
